Oldbury Wells is a Specialist Science College
We have been awarded Science College Status in recognition of the expertise and standards achieved by our Science and Mathematics departments. Gaining the status has allowed us to further develop this area of our curriculum and the standards of achievement across the school generally.
Our work as a Science college has had other benefits beyond our school. For example it has brought us to work more with feeder schools and to strengthen our links with further education and employers.
We are proud of the range of subjects we offer at Oldbury Wells generally and the areas of Science and Mathematics are no exception. For example we are this year delivering Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Statistics, Double science (a general science course), Biology, Chemistry and Physics (no longer taught at GCSE in many schools), Environmental Science and Geology. Further to this we are teaching a vocational science course which allows for a different style of learning. We know that Science and Mathematics qualifications are part of what makes up an essential curriculum for students and feel our offer to students in this area is exceptional.
