Students Celebrate Fantastic A Level Results!

Thursday, August 17, 2017

"Can I pass my congratulations to all of our Sixth form students today.  They have done so brilliantly well this year. In fact, they are the highest A level results that I think I have seen in my ten years at Oldbury Wells!" said Mrs Godden, Head teacher.

We are thrilled to report great results this year:

  • Academic A Levels the average grade is B
  • Vocational subjects the average grade is a Distinction Star (the highest grade awarded)
  • Oldbury Wells had an impressive pass rate of 97%.
  • 61% of students gained a B grade or above.
  • 65% of grades at A* - C
We wish all of our students every success in their next steps - most are off to university and a few are taking up apprenticeships.  Our students are going to do a wide range of courses at a wide range of universities, including some of the top universities.  To pick out just a few: we wish Ellie well in her Japanese studies at Oxford; we wish Lily every success with mathematics at Leeds; we are sure David will be successful in Swansea where he will read Marine Biology; and we wish Megan every success at Exeter where she is reading Literature with Theatre.

Special congratulations go to some particularly high performing students in Year 12 and 13: Megan Howe A*, A, A, A; Jack French A, A, A; Lily Hodgkiss A*, A, B, B; and Ellie Jameson A*, A*, C.
