Pupils Fired Up For Writing Competition!

09 February 2017

Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools visited Oldbury Wells on 2nd and 3rd February to work on their short story writing skills with visiting children's adventure author, Mark Robson. Our Year 7 pupils also joined in the fun. The children learnt about creating dynamic openings and believable characters and are now fired up to enter our Get Creative Writing Competition – a 500-word short story competition based on an adventure theme.

Mr O'Malley, Headteacher at Alveley Primary School, said, "It was a delight for our pupils to work with a published author and learn new writing techniques. I can see their writing skills improving from this experience."

"Some amazing young writers with oodles of ideas and potential," said author Mark Robson. "It's been a pleasure to be a part of such a super event."

Mrs Lawson, Head of English at Oldbury Wells, said, "It's been great for the pupils to have the experience of writing with a real author."
